Also called Olibanumis, an aromatic resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia. Frankincense trees are also considered unusual for their ability to grow in environments so unforgiving that they sometimes grow directly out of solid rock. The trees start producing resin when they are about 8 to 10 years old. Olibanum essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dry resin. Frankincense was lavishly used in religious rites. In the Book of Exodus in the Old Testament, it was an ingredient for sacred anointing oil (Ex 30:34);
