This beautiful dreidel is both decorative and functional with the stand offering a place for the dreidel to rest upright while not in use. The dreidel has the traditional shape and is decorated with A Jerusalem scene in a metal cutout and the Hebrew letters Nun, Gimmel Hey, and Peh, an abbreviation for the Hebrew statement “Nes Gadol Haya Po”. The phrase means: “A great miracle happened here” in English.

Artist Yair Emanuel, a graduate of the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, lives and works in Jerusalem. Vivid and harmonious colors, as well as a mixture of the old and the new, characterize Emanuel’s work, which is designed and crafted in his Jerusalem studio. The principal techniques utilized encompass painting on silk, hand-embroidery, raw-silk appliqué and painting on wood.
